During the last twelve months we have had a terrible

If the farmers sell. their seed to the oil mills Lids year

not have cottonseed meal to feed our cattle for the

1e ceiling as issued by the OPA puts a oe of

Cottonseed Meal and Hepated Milk
At the present time the OPA is not permitting

producers in the Atlanta area to receive more than 3

gallon. At the same time, thousands of gallons: of mil
being brought Are | from other Bates at 40 a gallon, @

: higher.

They have cut production of sugar ea in the
just as they have cut production of cotton in the So

Sugar beet pulp constituted one of our larg est mgr 1

of mixed feed. .
The beet. sugar. erowers have been. a down i in o

to. make room for sugar from Cuba and Hawaii and oO

islands. Without ships to haul this other sugar in we ar

short of both sugar and feed.

Tt is so ridiculous to think of Georgia ee be g

~~ forced to sell their milk for 36 a gallon, and at the s

time imported milk bringing 40 a gallon, that as Bill

derson said in the Macon Palpsyaye oF fatigues ind
= pation: . 2

The extra te a . gallon that we pay far imporiee. mil

pays the extra one dollat, it pays the freight on our ow
cottonseed meal a thousand miles north and then pays h
freight on the-milk back a thousand miles.: ae

On Wednesday of last week I appeared Deis =

Milk Control Board of Georgia and insisted that they
mediately raise the price to. the producers of a

least 40e per gallon.
This, of course, would be poner. to. OPA S rile,
we might as well find out now whether or not the co
will uphold such palpably unfair discrimination ag al
Georgia Pe in wae of other sections.

less rules and regulations just like the farmer. a
Cottonseed is a fair example, Under OPA. ala

cottonseed will sell for less in 1943 than they brough

1941, prior to the attack on Pearl Harbor. .

While the price of, cottonseed meal has been fore
down against the farmer, the price of cooking oil made
the refineries from cottonseed oil has continued ee go

tween the farmer and the local merchant. ae

Congres: reconvenes in September.

Let's see it the
ahd Concedes Credit Coa to take the farmers

cottonseed and milk at such unreasonably low prices.
