Seovping, stringing, curing, unstringing and packing
of tobacco during the gathering period:
_ With the limited tobacco crops that the apices
are permitted to produce at this time it is urgently
necessary that. the farmers get every possible dollar
out of their tobacco. |
- Under normal conditions the bulk of the Best
tobacco is ready for market at the time the sales open.
And, for the first few days, the buyers are inclined
uy the tobacco as generally averaging good. This
ag caused the farmers to get into the habit of trying
te rush their tobaeco on the Market during: the first
few days.
With the tobacco crop as late as it is this year,
and without time to pack it down and give it a chance
to color out and get in proper order, such a proceed-
would be disastrous as all tobacco woud sell as
v grade tobacco...
a AS. is generally known, a great many of the
eorgia tobacco warehouses are Operated by Caro-
ina warehouse men, The-main objection to this ar-
angement is that the Carolina warehouse men are
ina hurry to get back to Carolina, to the opening of
the: tobacco markets in Carolina.
_ Insofar as I can see it would work no hardship
or loss on the Carolina tobacco growers for the Caro-
ina obacco market to open 10 or 15 days later.
nillion dollors to Georgia tobacco growers for the
Georgia tobacco sales season, this year, to be delaved
10 or 15 days.
I hope that some good ioe farmers will be
a e to go to the meeting at the Duke Hotel, Durham,
North Carolina, Wednesday, July 16th.
Tf you cannot go I would appreciate your sending
ne a telegram to the Duke Hotel, Durham, North
yarolina, if you think it advisable to: postpone the to-
acco market 10 or 15 days this year. :
This is important and I Ene you will not over-

received for items that cannot be accepted beca
of not being able to fill received orders should
RETURNED (NOT DESTROYED as they someti

Failure to do this often results in complaints b
