Credit Corporation and by banks and other local
lending agencies under arrangements substantially
similar to those pertaining to previous cotton loans.
The loans to the producers, however, will bear
three per cent interest instead of four per cent as
in the past, and will mature July 31 1940. Banks

ducers upon cotton stored in approved warehouses

Official Tobacco Report Gicn
Commissioner Columbus Roberts announces that informa-
tion received by him shows that Georgia bright leaf tobacco
Zrowers in South Georgia voted almost 6 to 1 in favor of the
1940 control program, in the election held October 5th.
Mr. Roberts says:
The official results of the vote cast October 5th on the
control program of flue-cured tobacco in the tobacco growing
states in the south has been received by the Georgia Department.

The vote in Georgia as announced by the United States
Department of Agriculture under whose auspices the election
was held, showed that 17,354 votes were cast in favor of the

vote in Georgia was 20,417 votes cast by farmers in 73 south
Georgia counties.
Colquitt county, with 1,267 votes for, and 373 votes against,
ast the highest vote of any Georgia county and Coffee county
with 1,008 for, and 128 votes against, was second.
A total of 250,671 votes. were cast in the South on the
plan and 225,606 favored it and 25,065 opposed it. The bright
leaf quota for 1940 in the whole area has been set at 660,000,000
pounds. Georgia grew 98,000,000 pounds this year.
It was also announced that the vote on the Burley tobacco
control pian for 1940 will be held November 21. Several north
Georgia counties will participate in this:election, Burley being
grown in extreme north. Georgia.

Georgian Heads Feed Association
Dr. J. Frampton King, Assistant State Chemist, Georgia
_ Depariment of Agriculture, was elected President of the As-
sociation of American Feed Control Officials at its annual meet-
_ ing in Washington last week. This was a signal honor, not only
for Dr. King, but for the State of Georgia and the South. This
Association is composed of the 48 states of the union and Canada.
Since 1916 no Georgian has held this high honor.
Dr. King is well known throughout the country, by both
MARKET BULLETIN
state officials and members of the industry for his knowledge
land ability concerning feedstuffs.
Together with Dr. J. Preston Yarbrough, State Chemist, Dr.
King also attended the convention of the Association of Official
Agricultural Chemists held at the same place.
This Association
is composed of federal and state control officials and experiment
station workers.
Methods of analysis of agricultural products, |
foods and drugs were adopted for official use by federal spec
state control officials.
