The Director of the Bureau. of Markets informs me that E

~are frequently received from. ONE FAMILY. Such practice
: is very unfair to the other users. of the Bulletin. When they *
| see long advertisements in the Bulletin signed by Jim,.Jane, '
John, Pete, Mary and Louise Jonesall members of one and.
Se the same familyand their own advertisement left out for lack
of space, they naturally resent it. It is practically impossible
_ to write to the postmaster of each town to check the hundreds
_ of advertisements we receive weekly. We appeal to you, in be-.
half of the users of the Bulletin, to stop such practice. We do.
not want to deny any one the use of the Bulletin.
Recently, we had the Postal Authorities to arrest several
parties for using the Bulletin to swindle. The Bulletin assumes
no responsibility for transactions made through it. However, .
we are always diligent in our efforts to catch such swindlers
who use the Bulletin to defraud the people.
THE USE OF THE BULLETIN
Many people send advertisements in on Monday, expecting
them to come out the following Thursday. For example, on
Wednesday the oldest copy on hand is sent by us to the printer.
It is set up by the printer and ready to run by Saturday. Mon-
day and Tuesday of the next week the Bulletin is run on the
press. The Circulation Department then mails them out60,-
000 copieson Wednesday and Thursday.
Publishing 1200 advertisements a week to 60,000 people is
me a big job. The printing is done by contract a not by the
Bureau of Markets.
The Bureau of Markets isin pccaies of a ate from the |
