- Record of certificates issued to refugee citizens and individuals serving in support of the military in Georgia during the Revolutionary War.
The Bounty Land grant laws granted land to citizens who could produce a signed certificate stating that they had performed service in the Revolutionary War. Bounty certificates were issued to those who could prove military service; to refugee citizens who fled after the state was occupied by British forces; and to citizens who “could not be convicted of plundering or distressing the country.” All of these certificates were issued before the law of February 25, 1784 increased the amount of land granted by fifteen per cent - Local Identifier:
