THE STATE OF GEORGIA
EXECUTIVE ORDER

BY THE GOVERNOR:

FLAGS ON STATE BUILDINGS AND GROUNDS ORDERED LOWERED TO HALF-STAFF

WHEREAS: Mr. Bruce Thompson, Georgia's Commissioner of Labor, passed away on November 24, 2024; and

WHEREAS: Commissioner Thompson honorably served our country for six years within the Tank/Armored Division of the U.S. Army National Guard; and

WHEREAS: Commissioner Thompson represented the 14th district in the Georgia State Senate from December 2013 until January 2023 when he took office as Commissioner of Labor; and

WHEREAS:

As Georgia's tenth Commissioner of Labor, Bruce Thompson used his work ethic, integrity, and legislative experience to serve Georgia's workers and employers by leading an agency focused on transparency, responsiveness, and fiscal responsibility; and

WHEREAS: It is fitting and proper to remember and honor Bruce Thompson's service to the State of Georgia by lowering flags on all State buildings and grounds to half-staff.

NOW, THEREFORE, IN HONOR OF AND AS A MARK OF RESPECT FOR THE MEMORY OF BRUCE THOMPSON, PURSUANT TO THE AUTHORITY VESTED IN ME AS GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA, IT IS HEREBY

ORDERED: That the flag of the United States and the flag of the State of Georgia be flown at half-staff on all State buildings and grounds on Saturday, November 30, 2024, the day of Commissioner Bruce Thompson's interment.

This 29th day of November 2024.
