vate educational services shrank by 1,400 positions. The

other services sector, which includes automotive repair

and maintenance, religious organizations, and personal care services, added 2,600 jobs over the month.

Trade, transportation, and utilities dropped 2,000 jobs in September. The sector's third straight month of employment decline is attributed to 1,000 fewer positions in transportation, warehousing, and utilities, a loss of 900 wholesale trade jobs, and an employment decline of 100 jobs in retail trade. The information sector contracted by 900 nonfarm workers over the month. Professional and business services declined by 600 jobs in September, following a loss of 1,400 in August.

Over the year, employment in Georgia is up 66,900, or 1.4 percent. Private education and health services (+27,800 jobs), leisure and hospitality (+23,000 jobs), government (+18,400 jobs), financial activities (+4,700 jobs), and other services (+4,400 jobs) added the most jobs from September 2023 to September 2024.
In September 2024, Georgia's unemployment rate (seasonally adjusted) remained at 3.6 percent over the month. Over the year, the unemployment rate is up from 3.2 percent in September a year ago.
