From May 2023 to May 2024, employment in Georgia is up 73,900, or 1.5 percent. Private education and health services (+24,100 jobs), government (+23,600 jobs), leisure and hospitality (+18,900 jobs), financial activities (+8,300 jobs), and manufacturing (+7,600 jobs), added the most jobs over the year.
In May 2024, Georgia's unemployment rate (seasonally adjusted) inched up to 3.2 percent over the month. Georgia's unemployment rate remains well below the 4.0 national average. Over the year, the state's rate is unchanged from 3.2 percent in May 2023.
