sure and hospitality grew by 3,200 nonfarm workers in
January, thus continuing an upward trend for the seventh
month in a row. The government sector has added 2,400
jobs over the month, and has expanded for three of the last four months.

The trade, transportation and utilities sector contracted
by 8,400 positions over the month. Despite the gain of 100 jobs in wholesale trade, a loss of 8,500 jobs in transportation, warehousing and utilities account for the
sector's dip in employment. Manufacturing shed 1,000
jobs in January, following the loss of 600 nonfarm workers in December 2023.
Jan-23 Feb-23 Mar-23 Apr-23 May-23 Jun-23 Jul-23 Aug-23 Sep-23 Oct-23 Nov-23 Dec-23 Jan-24
