- Courthouse Details: The first courthouse was built in 1800 and was used until 1864, when Union troops burned it down. The present courthouse was completed in 1872, was remodeled after a fire in 1931, and had several additions built around the original structure in 1973. In 1986, the courthouse was damaged by fire.
