William Douglas ("Billy") Young May 12,1940 ~ August 18,1999
William Douglas ("Billy") Young was born on May 12, 1940 to the parentage of Dorothy Nelson Young and Oscar H. Young. His mother died during childbirth, and he and his two siblings were lovingly raised by his mother's sister, Ethel Nelson Lee.
Billy served his country for three years in the U.S. Army before settling in Macon, Georgia. There, he and Patricia Wilburn Young were united in matrimony.
He soon became widely acclaimed as a community activist because of his involvement in many worthy causes. His passion grew to be working with children, especially teaching and singing about the life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Billy will be remembered as a friend to mankind, who strongly believed in the teachings of Jesus Christ and practiced them in his everyday life.
He had recently developed a passion for tending to Linwood Cemetery, ensuring that the final resting places of its occupants would be respectable and presentable to all. It was there, doing what he love, that Billy departed this life. Billy gave unselfishly of his time and talents, and died as he lived, trying to serve God and his community.
He leaves to mourn his passing a devoted wife, Patricia Young, of Macon, Georgia; two loving daughters, Traci A. Young Olivier of Navarre, Florida and Avill P. Young of Gaithersburg, Maryland; two aunts, Ethel ("Little Mother") Lee, and Inez Smith; one sister, Alma Zachary all of Dallas, Texas; two grandchildren, Katarina Olivier and Ryan Olivier, of Navarre, Florida; one son by marriage, Rene' D. Olivier, Jr.; two sisters-inlaw, Catherine Hudgeon of Warrenton, Georgia and Essie D. Maxey of Decatur, Georgia; two brothers-in-law, Rev. Ernest Zachary, Sr. of Dallas, Texas and Maurice Maxey of Decatur, Georgia. Several nieces and nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends.
