CYPHUS YOUNG was the son o f the late Emma Young and Rainey Smalls, born January 2, 1938. He was raised and nurtured by his late Grandmother Annie Young, along with his cousins, who he enjoyed as his siblings while growing up in Georgetown, South Carolina.
He was educated in the public schools o f Georgetown, South Carolina. Cyphus was em ployed at Lake Placid in N ew York, go lf courses in the state o f North Carolina, and Wyett Developm ent Company prior to em ploym ent at Augusta National G olf Course. He served as a special em ployee and friend o f Mr. Jack Stephens, form ally the Augusta National G olf Course Chairman, during his time o f employment. He was em ployed at Augusta National until his health failed.
Cyphus was blessed to be em ployed in the surroundings o f his favorite thing to do, and that was playing golf. He had opportunities to play go lf throughout the United States, and often found him self giving tips to others on his go lf expertise and won many trophies.
Cyphus gave his life to Christ and was baptized in Georgetown, South Carolina. Much later in life, he attended Carpentersville Missionary Baptist Church in North Augusta, South Carolina. He then rededicated his life to Christ later at Harmony Baptist Church, where he currently served as a faithful member. Cyphus had a great love for life and was a jo y to be around. He showed much o f his love through his unselfish giving.
His legacy w ill be lived through the lives o f cousins and friends who continuously cared and visited with him during his time o f illness. Cyphus taught us not to give up no matter how hard life gets and his strength, was our strength as we cared for him. So he w ill always be cherished by: Valerie (Frank) Hinton [cousin], Renarda Dones, [cousin], James (Bertha) H ill [caregiver and best friends], Paul Nelson, [cousin], Marvin Young, [cousin], Ida Jacobs [cherish friend], Natasha Dones [cousin], Karis Sparkman [cousin], Earnestine Dones [cousin], Patricia Dones [cousin], Norma Mitchell [cousin], James Wineglass [life friend], Charlie Williams [dear friend] and a host o f other relatives and friends.

"Almighty God, as we play through our 18 holes o f life, we pray that you will give us a drive that's both long enough to reach our goals, and yet straight enough to keep us out o f trouble.
"Help us avoid the traps and hazards of life; nevertheless, should we find ourselves in them, give us the tools, skills and desire to escape them with no penalty. May we always stay in bounds."
"Help us to be willing to stand by - and not play through - those in genuine need. May we always play with honor."
"And finally, when we've putted out on the 18th green, we pray that we will have demonstrated the integrity o f our character, so that you will judge us worthy enough to jo in your threesome and play eternally on your heavenly course. Am en."
