BEAUTIFUL MEMORIES
Mr. Henry Jackson Wilson was born November 24, 1907 to the union of Mary and Jackson Wilson in Kathwood, South Carolina. He entered into rest unexpectedly December 19, 1985 at University Hospital. He grew up and completed school in Jackson, South Carolina.
In 1933 he married Maggie Tyler and to this union one child, Maxine Tyler Wilson was born.
Henry served in the United States Army and was a World War Two veteran. His decorations and citations include; European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal.
He furthered his education while in the Army. After an honorable discharge, he became a certified radio and television repairman. Up until his death he was the owner of the H. & W. TV Repair Shop. He was a retired emploee of 50 years at the Richmond Hotel.
Henry was an active, faithful and loved member of Mount Pleasant Baptist Church where he served on the Deacon Board. Mr. Wilson was also a member of V. F. W. Post 3887 and had served as Post Commander.
"Big Daddy" was loved and respected by his family. He is survived by his faithful wife, Maggie; a devoted daughter, Maxine Wilson Thurmond; four loving grandchildren, Maggie T. Dorsey, Earl H. Thurmond, Jr,, DaHenri R. Thurmond and Kimberly T. Thurmond; three great-grandchildren, Michael L. Dorsey, Daniel T. Dorsey and David J. Dorsey; a grandson-in-law, Keith Dorsey; three cherished sisters, Lournia Bell, Mary Jane (David) Blakney of New York and Moriah W. Bates of Jackson, South Carolina; a loved brother, Fleming (Emily) Wilson of New York and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.
THE BRIDGE BUILDER
An old man going a lone highway Came in the evening cold and gray To a chasm vast and deep and wide The old man crossed in the twilight dim, The sullen stream had no fears for him, But he stopped when safe on the other side And built a bridge to span the tide.

"Old man," said a fellow pilgrim near, "You are wasting your strength with building here; Your journey will end with the ending day, You never again will pass this way, Youve crossed the chasm deep and wide, Why build you this bridge at evening tide?"
The builder lifted his old grey head, "Good friend, in the path I have come," he said, "There followeth after me today A youth whose feet must pass this way. This chasm which has been as naught to me To that fair-haired youth might a pitfall be, He, too, must cross in the twilight dim, Good friend, I am building the bridge for him."
