At an early age, she was baptized at the Oakey Grove Baptist Church by Rev. J. D. Williams, where she served faithfully. Mattie served on the Deaconess Board and was Treasurer for 25 years.
She was united in Holy Wedlock to Mr. Dan Williams for 48 years.
She leaves to cherish her memories: husband, Mr. Dan Williams, Evans, GA; one son, Charles (Clara) Williams, Delaware; four daughters, Willie Mae (James) Cook, Evans, GA, Georgia Harris, FL; Alice (Billy) Croswell, Philadelphia, PA; and Geneva Grant, Philadelphia, PA; one sister, Gertrude Phillips, Philadelphia, PA; three brothers, Roosevelt Julia) Bell, Evans, GA; Charlie Bell, California; and Willie Anderson, West Virginia; nephew, Charlie Williams, Martinez, GA; aunt, Marie Collins, Evans, GA; two uncles, Eddie Jennings, NY and Robert Jennings, Jr., Harrisburg, PA; fifteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
