CROSSING THE BAR
Sunset and evening star, And one clear call for me! And may there be no moaning of the bar When I put out to sea.
--Alfred Tennyson
God of strength and God of goodness came and took another one of our loved ones; one who dedicated and committed her entire life and services to her family, friends and church.
Mrs. Mary Jackson Williams of Eastover, South Carolina entered eternal rest quietly Monday, July 8, 1996, at Richland Memorial Hospital, Columbia, South Carolina, following an active and productive life. Mrs. Williams was born in Richland County on August 6, 1899. She was the daughter of the late Charlie and Katie Adams Jackson. The twin sister of the late George Jackson.
Mrs. Williams attended Beulah School in Hopkins, South Carolina. She was baptized at an early age at New Light Beulah Baptist Church. She served in many capacities in the church for more than 80 years. She served as president of the Missionary Society No. 1 and second choir leader of the Jubilee Choir. New Light Beulah Baptist named her "Mother O f The Church," a title she loved and cherished.
Mrs. Williams was married to the late James Williams, Sr., former Trustee of Beulah Baptist. To this union twelve children were born; eight which preceded her in death. She also reared a grandson, Odell Tyrone Weston.
Mrs. Williams was blessed with a long productive life. She enjoyed her work in the church and service in the community. She was a jovial person who enjoyed meeting and greeting people.
She leaves to cherish her fond memories four children, Mr. Robert Williams of Gadsden, S. C., Mrs. Teresa Williams Roddey, Rock Hill, S.C., Mrs. Carrie Williams Cotton, Saginaw, Michigan, Mr. Freddie J. Williams, Saginaw, Michigan; one daughter-in-law, Mrs. Lillian T. Williams, Gadsden, S.C.; four sons-in-law, Deacon Doctor Adams, Sr., Gadsden, S.C., Rever end Dr. Osbey Roddey, Rock Hill, S. C., Mr. Heyward W. Reid, York, S.C., Mr. John Cotton, Saginaw, Michigan; one brother-in-law, Mr. Orrie Pasley, Hemmingway, S.C.; 19 grandchil dren; 19 great-grandchildren; a devoted niece, Mrs. Mamie B. Harris, Hopkins, S.C.; and a host of other nieces, nephews, relatives and her church family.

A WONDERFUL MOTHER
God made a wonderful Mother, A Mother who never grows old; He made her smile o f the sunshine, And He molded her heart o f pure gold; In her eyes he place bright shining stars, In her cheeks, fa ir roses you see; God made a wonderful Mother, And He gave that dear Mother to me.
