O bituary
LeRoy Williams was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Williams-Snype, born April 16, 1929 in Lady's Island, South Carolina. He was preceded in death: Roy A. Williams (son), Ernestine Williams (sister) and Mamie Rivers (sister).
LeRoy graduated from Robert Small High School in Beaufort, South Carolina. He attended Augusta State University and earned an Associates Degree in Business Administration from Georgia Military College. He joined the United States Army in 1947, was awarded a Bronze Star Medal and retired with thirty years of service. He also retired from the Augusta Housing Authority with twenty years of service as Director of Management.
LeRoy was a devout Catholic and active member of the John F. Kennedy Knights of Columbus, served on the Board of Directors for Immaculate Conception School, a life-time member of the Disabled American Veteran's Chapter 10 Pendleton King, an active member of the Evening Optimist Club of Augusta, secretary of the Southeastern Region of the Buffalo Soldiers and many other civic and military organizations.
He leaves to cherish his memories: a loving and devoted wife of fifty-nine years, Julia Williams; two daughters, Carolyn W. Wilkins of Columbia, South Carolina and Millicent Williams of Augusta, Georgia; a niece, Mrs. Willie Mae (Oree) Austin of Beaufort, South Carolina; two god children, Shellie Olds Johnson and Lillian Glenn and a host of cousins, grand nieces and nephews.
