UNITED HOUSE OF PRAYER FOR ALL PEOPLE AUGUSTA, GEORGIA
APOSTLE C. SUTTON, PASTOR

On August 11, 1931, God in His perfect wisdom manifested His plan to enrich the earth with the life o f Saint Ida Lee Williams. This blessing, received with joy, greatly enhanced the lives o f her parents, the late Apostle Faries Ware Thompson and Mozell Hart Thompson in McDuffie County (Dearing), Georgia.
With her father having heard the call o f the late Bishop C. M. (Daddy) Grace in 1927, Saint Williams became a member o f the United House o f Prayer for All People from birth and remained a strong and faithful servant o f this organization for all the days o f her life.
Saint Williams excelled at many roles within the United House o f Prayer, advancing from a maid to Bishop Grace in her youth to ultimately presiding over auxiliary boards such as the Heavenly Lights Queen Board as an adult. At the United House o f Prayer in Harlem, Georgia, she was regarded as a "Tip-Top Worker," spearheading efforts that led to the renovation o f the Harlem edifice during the 1990s. She was also renowned for being Harlem's key musician and house pianist.
Once the Thompson Family moved from Dearing to Augusta in the 1930s, Saint Williams began attending the public schools in Richmond County. She was a member o f the A.R. Johnson High School Class o f 1951 and was one o f the first in her generation to pursue a college degree at Paine College. Tb help fund her education, she also studied cosmetology and managed a very successful beauty parlor at her parent's home, demonstrating her high level o f industriousness and entrepreneurial manner. She was also a charter member o f the Augusta Alumni Chapter o f the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. and the Augusta Chapter o f Jack & Jill o f America, Inc.
After receiving her bachelor's degree from Paine College in 1955, she embarked on an illustrious 42year career as an educator in the Richmond County school system. The majority o f her career was spent serving the needs o f children who suffered from mental and behavioral disabilities. Her dedication to those children led her to pursue special certifications and graduate studies from universities in both Florida and N ew York (Columbia and NYU).
On April 6th 1963, she married Landirs Williams. Tbgether they created a marital relationship that endured for 51 years. To this union two sons, Shaun and Benji, were born. She was a loving mother who instilled strong Christian values within her sons. She sacrificed so that her sons could achieve higher heights in education with both sons receiving graduate degrees from distinguished universities and one son becoming a doctor o f medicine.
Known for her warmth and keen, "quick" wit, Saint Williams brought jo y and humor to the countless church members, colleagues, students, friends and family whom she encountered over the course o f her life.
On February 1, 2014, God in His perfect wisdom called Saint Ida Lee Williams to eternal rest. The beauty o f a life well lived becomes a legacy that stays behind and provides us with cherished memories for a lifetime; the legacy o f Saint Williams will be a life well lived. She touched so many lives and brightened many o f our days. The love she had for her family is best demonstrated through her God-fearing children and grandchildren who w ill carry on the faith in her absence.
To continue the celebration o f her life, she leaves to cherish the memories o f her love: a devoted husband o f 51 years, Landirs Williams, Augusta, GA; two loving sons, Dr. Landirs S. Family and Friends
Don't think of her as gone away, Her journey's just begun. Life holds so m any facets, This earth is only one.
Just think of her as resting from the sorrows and the tears, In a place of warmth and comfort Where there are no days and years.
Think how she must be wishing That we could know today, How nothing but our sadness Can really pass away.
And think of her as living In the hearts of those she touched, For nothing loved is ever lost And she was loved so much.
And now; dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died.
1 Thessalonians 4:13-14 (NLT)
The family wishes to express deep gratitude and sincere appreciation for the many acts of kindness and comforting expressions of sympathy shown during their hours of bereavement.
