was bom March 22, 1919, in Richmond County, Georgia to the late Rosa Lee Clemons Kershew and Obie Williams.
He received Christ as his Lord and Savior and was baptized at an early age, at the Gardner Grove Baptist Church. He later joined the Tremont Temple Missionary Baptist Church where he served until his illness.
He was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Janie Lee Blanchard Williams. To this union one daughter was bom. He later married the late Magalene Ellison Williams.
Alvin retired from the Veterans Administration Hospital, Augusta, Georgia, with over thirty years of service. He was an Army Veteran of World War II. He was also a skilled fisherman and hunter. He loved camping and the outdoors.
He leaves to cherish his memory: a daughter, Ms. Emily Williams, Philadelphia, PA; two granddaughters, Desiree Williams and Melody Williams, Philadelphia, PA; six great grandchildren, Caprice Booker, Isaiah Williams, Noel Booker, Nysarah Jackson, Alicia Gray and Karima Robieham, Philadelphia, PA; two step grandsons, Alvin Palmer, Denver, CO and Matthew Palmer, Augusta, GA; five nieces, Mrs. Ruth Ann Hester, Mrs. Mattie Lee Whitfield, Ms. Gloria Hampton, Augusta, GA; Mrs. Elizabeth Crittenden, Piscataway, NJ and Mrs. Glenda Ann Ironbar, Atlanta, GA; three nephews, Mr. Robert Hampton, Atlanta, GA; Mr. David Hampton, Charlotte, NC and Mr. Larry Ellison, Augusta, GA; a devoted cousin, Mr. Joe Clemons; and a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
