On Saturday, May 24, 2003, God looked around His Garden and saw the need for another flower. He then looked down upon His earth and saw the loving face of Sister Daisy Louise Williams. Around 3:00 p.m. that peaceful afternoon, God put His loving arms around her and gently lifted her to rest from the Windermere Nursing Home in Augusta, Georgia.
Mrs. Daisy Louise Williams was born on August 24, 1926 to the late Johnny and Carrie Howard in Harlem, Georgia (Columbia County). She was the oldest of thirteen children. After the death of her mother, she became the matriarch of the Howard family.
Daisy was educated in the public school system of Columbia County. Later, the Richmond County School System employed her, where she served in many different capacities. Over the years, she has touched the lives of many, including the faculty, staff, and students of Copeland Elementary School in Augusta. In 1988, she retired after twenty-eight years of dedicated service.
Her Christian journey began at an early age at Cedar Grove Baptist Church, where she served in many ministries. She especially loved serving on the usher board and singing in the choir. As the Founder and President of the Williams Gospel Choir and her joy of singing, she requested to be buried in her choir robe.
In 1947, she married the late Raymond Hunter, Sr. of Crawfordville, Georgia. To this union, one child was born, a son, Raymond, Jr. Later, she met and married the Reverend Israel W. Williams and was a helpmate in the Baptist Church ministry for forty-seven years.
Mrs. Williamslife was one of commitment to her church, community, friends, and family. She was a true servant of God who never failed to do her best in His service.
