OBITUARY

April 5, 1961

Mrs. Carrie Williams was born in McCormick, South Car olina to the late Isaac and Louisa Well on October 10, 1892 and departed this life April 1, 1961. She was one of seven children born to this union.
Her early schooling was obtained in a little one coom school house in McCormick. She was converted in the Chapel Methodist Church at the age of 16, and served for many years as a Sunday School Teacher.

In 1915 she was married to Robert Williams. They later moved to Sharon Hill, Pa. After spending the summer in Atlantic City in 1923 they decided to make this their home.
She immediately became affiliated with St. James AME Church and joined under the pastorate of Rev. Albert C. San ders. When Rev. Sanders formed the Singing & Praying Band, Sis. Williams was chosen to be of the charter members.
She joined the Pastor Aid Board in 192$ and later that year was elected president, the office she held until her death.
For many years she was the treasure of the Ellen Tyre Mite Missionary Society.

She fought until she fell Upon the battle field,
And then she heard the General say, "Lay down your sword and shield."

Some day well meet again

Our loved one gone before

-She leaves to mourn her loss: a sister, Mrs. Ellen Searles, of Agusta, Georgia; a \j<jce, Mrs. Zvelyn Bowman; and a host of other nr<zees and nephews.
