Obituary
William Davis Wiley
William Davis Wiley was born September 25,1916 in Hephzibah, Georgia to the late Mamie and Washington Wiley. He entered into rest at University Hospital on Sunday, November 6,2005. At an early age, he joined First Ebenezer Baptist Church, Hephzibah, Georgia. After moving to Augusta, he was joined in holy matrimony to the late Marie Hammond of Edgefield County, South Carolina and to this union five children were born. Mr. Wiley was a long time employee of the Lily Tulip Company in Augusta. He retired from there with more than twenty-five years of service. After his retirement, he continued his entrepreneurial spirit by creating a very successful recycling business. He also enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He leaves to cherish his memories, his sons, Mr. Jinimie (Melissa) Wiley, Augusta and Mr. Stanley (Ellen) Arttaway, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; daughters, Ms Joann Harris-Mealing, Mrs. Willis (Daniel) Thompson, Mrs. Bernice (Clarence) Lewis, all of Augusta, Georgia and Mrs. Dolores (Kenneth) McKindra, San Antonio, Texas; one sister Mrs. Addie (David) Hope, one brother Mr. Bonnie (Ruby) Wiley; grandchildren, great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Theres an open gate at the end of the road Through which each must go alone, And there, in a light we cannot see, Our Father claims His own;
Beyond the gate, your loved one Finds happiness and rest And there is comfort in the thought That a loving God knows best.
