** OBITUARY**

"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept thefaith; henceforth, there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day...."
II Timothy 4: 7, 8a
On the morning of November 12,1984, Mr. Elmer C. Wilburn silently left with the angel of silence, away to a land that is free from sickness, sorrow, and pain. Although his family did everything that they could do to relieve his pain and to prolong life, it was Gods will that he should go.

Mr. Wilburn, son of the late Alien K. and Mary Wood Wilburn, was born June 13, 1908 in Stone Mountain, Georgia. He spent most of his childhood and youth in Norristown, Pennsylvania.

On August 10, 1931, he was united in Holy Wedlock to Miss Sara Bailey. This union was blessed with six children.

Mr. Wilburn came to Augusta to live in 1932. For many years he was

employed at the Greyhound Bus Terminal and was retired from that

service in 1973. Many travelers were made comfortable by his

encouraging word and friendly smile.

. . ..

He joined the Thankful Baptist church under the pastorage of Rev. M. J. Sherrod. He was a silent worshipper in the house of God, sitting with a prayerful heart, doing his work peacefully and quietly, carrying it all on his heart.

He was a devoted and loving husband and father. We shall miss him in our home - but as a family, we have pleasant memories to comfort us and an abiding faith in his God, our God, who doeth all things well.

Cherishing fond memories are a devoted wife, Mrs. Sara B. Wilburn; two sons, Mr. Elmer C. Wilburn, Jr., Augusta, and Mr. Ronald Wilburn, Orange, N.J.; three daughters, Mrs. Mary W. Henley, Augusta, Mrs. Jane W. Sapp, Knoxville, Tenn., and Mrs. Shirley W. Key, Orange, N.J.; one brother, Mr. Robert Wilburn; three sisters, Miss Anna Wilburn, Mrs. Betty Brooks, and Miss Sarah Wilburn, all of Philadelphia, Pa.; two sonsin-law, Rev. Clifford Henley, Augusta, and Dr. Hubert Sapp, Knoxville, Tenn.; two daughters-in-law, Mrs. Rosa M. Wilburn, Augusta, and Mrs. Cleasta Wilburn, Orange, N.J.; one brother-in-law, Mr. Robert Bailey, Augusta; eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and a host of other relatives and friends.
