- OBITUARY
Leland Kade Whaley, son of the late Lawrence M. and Hattie D. Whaley, was born in St. Matthews, South Carolina, March 24, 1920, and departed this life on March 5, 1987 at Orangeburg-Calhoun Regional Hospital.
Mr. Whaley was a retired science teacher of the Orangeburg Public School System. He received both his B.S. and M.S. degrees from South Carolina State Col lege. An Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW). He was also an active member of St. Luke Presbyterian Church and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. He enjoyed fishing and gardening.
Survivors include his beloved widow, Mrs. Willie Carl Reid Whaley; two daughters, Mrs. Paula Lisa Harris of Richmond, Virginia and Dr. Toni Whaley Miller of Atlanta, Georgia; one sister, Mrs. Daisy Whaley Mason of New Orleans, Louisiana; two grandchildren, nine nieces, four nephews, and a number of relatives and friends.
