ODbttuarg
Most people look upon death as a dark and gloomy thing, without one redeeming quality; out tne death oi tne rignteous is like the lowering cloud tnat snut out the sun at noonday; it has a bright side and a silver lining.
Death to a Christian is moving out of this cold, friendless, dark world into eternal daylight:
That is what Mrs. Clara A. Washington has done. She was born May 28, 1900 to Mr. &Mrs. Brantley Appling in Wilks county. She attended school in Wilks county. She was converted, batized and joined the Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in Washington, Georgia; Where she taught school for several years.
After moving to Augusta, Georgia; she was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Henry Washington in 1934. She later joined the Gethsemane Baptist Church.
Mr. & Mrs. Washington adopted a son and reared 4 nephews, whom they gave a Christian home. She walked in the paths that would be good, not only for her children, but for others. She was a delight to her friends, a joy to her family and source of good will to the1stranger. She lived as she died, serene and beautiful. Mrs. Washington was an earnest Christian worker, always ready and willing to do whatever her hands found to do to build up God's cause. She served as chief of the Usher &Usherette board, Club # 1, and Sunday school. She didn't onlv serve her church, she was also a faithful member of the Tremont Temple B.T.U., Matron of the C. I. Washington courts Heroines of Jericho and a retired employee of Hollingsworth Candy Co.
So let tired laborers be encouraged for there is a time to rest. Her busy life of Christian service has closed upon earth, but she is bigger business for her master where every day is a happy day.
She leaves to mourn her passing a loving husband, Mr. Henry Washington; One son, Mr. Robert Lee Washington; a devoted sister and brother, Mrs. Mary McCain and Mr. Willie Appling; an aunt Mrs. Mary Tate, Washington, D.C.; a brother-in-law, Dr. I. E. Washington; sisters-in-law, Dr. Justine Washington, Mrs. Daisy Johnson and Mrs. Fannie Appling; two grandchildren, a host of neices, nephews, cousins and many friends.

To be able to smile in the storm

To be watchful and careful and constant in prayer

To be cautious to do no one harm

To be useful and wanted, to live every day

That whenever the bell tolls for you

You'll be happy to say, though my end is at hand

I 've done all the good I could do.

This is the life of our friend who has gone.

May these behind catch the light of her life.
