Mrs. Peggy Ray Faison Ward, M.D. was born December 9, 1955 in Sampson County, North Carolina to Elliott Faison, Sr. and the late Dora Louise Faison. As a sharecroppers daughter, she grew up on a farm. She acceptedJesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age and became very involved in her church. In addition, she was a member of "The Jubilee Five," a family quartet.
was a graduate of Hobbton High School in Newton Grove, North Carolina. She continued her education at North Carolina A & T State University where she received her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Chemistry in 1979 and 1981 respectively. She then attended pharmacy school at the University ofNorth Carolina Chapel Hill and later began medical school at East Carolina University Medical Center where she received her Doctor ofMedicine degree in 1989. She was board certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology. -..;
Shortly after relocating to Augusta, she joined Good Shepherd Baptist Church. She began private practice in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology in 1994. She worked hard to dedicate herself to helping others in any capacity that she could. She was co-founder ofAugusta Associates of Internal Medicine and Rheumatology. Peggy was affiliated with numerous medical associations. She was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority. Peggy will be rememberedfor herfaith in God, love offamily, and dedication to her patients, for she took time to truly listen to them.
She leaves memories that will be forever cherished by: her loving and devoted husband of 25 years, Shelton R. Ward; two daughters, Kimberly R. Ward and Victoria E. Ward; two granddaughters, Iliana N. Ward and Keona L. Curtis; her father, Elliott ]. Faison, Sr, Raleigh, North Carolina; two brothers, Elliott (Dorothy) Faison, Jr., Lanham, Maryland and Ricky N. (Janet) Faison, Raleigh, North Carolina; three sisters, Carol (Jethro) DeVane, Raleigh, North Carolina, Dr. Hattie (Connie) Baggett, State College, Pennsylvania and Mary (Russel) Hampton, Indianapolis, Indiana; father and mother-in-law, Wynn (Virginia) Ward, Chadbourn, North Carolina; four brothers-in-law, six sisters-in-law and a host ofaunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
