PASTOR EMERITUS ARCHIE EDWARD WALTOWER, the son of the late T.C. Waltower and Charity Waltower, was born June 30,1936 in Burke County, Georgia. He was very young when the family moved to Augusta.
He knew Jesus at an early age and was baptized at Mount Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend E.A. Moss when he was twelve years old. He was called to preach (second call) in 1991 and he shared his feelings with his pastor, Reverend Dr. Clyde Hill, Sr. Reverend Archie had his trial sermon September 12,1993 at Mount Calvary Baptist Church. His training and education began at Mount Calvary under the leadership of Reverend Hill for two years. He was ordained in 1997 by Reverend Dr. Clyde Hill, Sr.
Reverend Waltower quit school and joined the Army. He stayed in the Army for three years, then went back to school to finish his education. He received his diploma in Business Administration from Augusta Technical College; certificate in theology from I.T.C. Extension School, Atlanta, Georgia; and American Baptist College Extension School (Tabernacle). He also received his AA (Cum Laude) and BA from American Baptist College, Nashville, Tennessee.
He retired from Thermal Ceramics as foreman, June 30, 1998, after thirty-eight years of service. While there, he started the Little Tin Church where his co-workers would take their lunch by going to church to hear the Word of God. Pastor Emeritus Archie Waltower retired from the Richmond Hill Baptist Church, Hephzibah, Georgia November 2015 after sixteen years of faithful service.

Reverend Waltower departed this life September 13, 2016 at University. He was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters. He is survived by: a loving and devoted wife of fifty-eight years, Dolores Harley Waltower; daughter, Tiffany Waltower-Lane (Jimmy); son, Gerald Travis Waltower; three granddaughters, Ti'Andrea Waltower-Greene, Tyease Waltower-Winfrey and Taylor Waltower-Winfrey; great granddaughter, Kennedijanelle Walker; brother, Reverend Eugene Waltower; two sisters, Lillie Bell Waltower Gaskin of Brooklyn, New York and Elizabeth Waltower Crawford, Augusta, Georgia; three sisters-in-law, Minerva Rhaney, Dorothy King of Augusta, Georgia and Shirley Walker of Westbury, New York; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; son in the ministry, Reverend Bruce (Merian) Bias; devoted friend, Reverend Ronald (Reverend Barbara) West; adopted godchildren, Jeanette Foster and Deacon Toney (Reba) Adams; and a host of sorrowing friends.

TEARS. Be HAPPY THAT WE HAD SO MANY BEAUTIFUL YEARS. I GAVE
TO YOU MY LOVE, YOU CAN ONLY GUESS HOW MUCH YOU GAVE TO ME IN HAPPINESS. I THANK YOU FOR THE LOVE YOU EACH HAVE
SHOWN, BUT NOW IT' S TIME I TRAVELED ON ALONE. So GRIEVE A
