OBITUARY
Mrs. Etta V. Wallace, nee Henrietta Vivian Jones, was born in St. Joseph, Missouri, on September 4, 1885. Spending her child hood there, she attended the public schools and graduated from high school with honors.
As a young woman, she was married to the late Reverend Samuel B. Wallace with whom she began a life of service to the church and the community. She was a loving wife, a devoted mother to her children, and a zealous worker dedicated to Christian service. She endeared herself to all who met her because of her gentle manners, charm, diplomacy, efficiency in getting jobs done, her interest in community problems, and concern for human wel fare and human dignity.
Her wide circle of friends included the members of the fol lowing churches where her late husband had pastored: Israel C.M.E. Church, Washington, D. C.; Holsey Temple C.M.E. Church, Philadelphia, Pa.; Sidney Park C.M.E. Church, Columbia, S. C.; and Trinity C.M.E. Church, Augusta, Ga.
Included among the many activities in which Airs. Wallace engaged were her service as librarian at the Community Library, now the Wallace branch of the Augusta Public Library; as chair man of the Board of Directors of the Amelia Sullivan Home for the Aged; as member of the Advisory Board of the Bethlehem Community Center; as teacher of the Adult Bible Class, member of the Board of Christian Education and member of the Senior Auxiliary Board of Trinity C.AI.E. Church; and as a member of the N.A.A.C.P. and of the Georgia Council on Human Relations.
Airs. Wallace was an active member of the Connectional Council of the C.M.E. Church and frequently served as delegate to the Annual and General Conferences of the church which she loved so well. Of her it could be justly said, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant."

Rest is not quitting The busy career; Rest is the fitting of self To one's sphere.

'Tis the brook's motion Clear without strife Fleeting to ocean, After its life.

'Tis loving and serving, The highest and best; 'Tis onward unswerving And this is true rest.
