Mrs. Millie M. Venson Hill was born in Augusta, Georgia on November 7, 1905 to the late Deacon John "Jack " Hill and Roberta Gibson Hill.
At an early age she was converted and baptized at the Gardner Grove Baptist Church, Augusta, Georgia, where she served as a faithful member until she moved to Boston in 1936. Within a few months she joined Metropolitan Baptist Church under the pastorate of the late Reverend M.M. Minor and later served as a member of the Deaconess Board. In addition to singing with the Senior Choir, she was a member of the Pastor's Aid Club and the Sewing Circle, and many times was happy to serve as hostess to visiting clergy and other prominent visitors to the ,Metropolitan Baptist Church.
Following the death of the Reverend Mr. Minor, she joined the Union Baptist Church in Cambridge, M assachusetts where she remained a faithful and loyal member until her passing on Monday evening, M arch 18, 1985. She was long time member of the Boston Unit of the Church.
Sister Hill was a quiet, unassuming Christian person who never acknowledged the word MNo" . While others spent time debating who, what and why a job needed to be done, she quietly moved forward and began doing the task with no thought of rewards or praise.
Along with her sons, John and Ralph, she involved herself with com munity organizations such as the United Negro College Fund, the Boston Urban League, the Lower Roxbury Community Development Corporation, and the NAACP. She was the "mother" , " aunt" , "nanna" , " sister" and friend to all who needed nurturing, regardless of their station in life. Her door was always open, and she would set another place at her table with a wink of the eye lash.
In 1977 when she became physically disabled, she sprung back within months and continued her good works from her wheelchair. She was an inspiration to many who complained of "having no shoes" until they saw that she had no feet. Her faith in God was unshakable; she never asked "why" ; she never complained.
She leaves to mourn her passing loving and devoted sons, John L. Venson, Ralph D. Smith, and Rev. J. Russ Ruffin, all of Boston; loving grandchildren, Andre and Paula Wright; godson, Paul B. Logan of Rich mond, CA.; and nieces and nephew, Delores, Michielle and Rudolph Williams. Also she leaves, cousins, Mrs. Rebecca White (Jones) and Sgt. Wesley White of Killeen, Texas; and life-long loving, loyal and devoted friends, Mrs. Mary Cotton of Dorchester and Mrs. Mildred Wilson of M attapan; and loving friend, Joseph Venardo of Dorchester.

When all is done and my last word is said And ye who loved me murmur, "She is dead,'' Let not one weep for fear that I should know, And sorrow too that ye should sorrow so.

When all is done, and in the oozing clay Ye lay this cast-off hull of mine away, Pray not for me, for after long despair, The quiet of the grave will be a prayer.

When all is done, say not my day is o'er,

And that thru night I seek a dimmer shore,

Say, rather that my morn has just begun,

I greet the dawn, and not the setting sun;

WHEN ALL IS DONE!

Acknmulebgements

We the family, gratefully acknowledge the many acts of kind

ness, helpfulness, concern and prayers which sustained us

during the long illness and confinement of our loved one. You

were there when we needed you; and you were ready to offer a

helping hand and lend an encouraging word. Truthfully, we

could have endured without your love and understanding. It

was you who helped make lemonade from the lemons that were

cast our way rather than complaining of the sourness.

Tho we could search for all kinds of words to express our

gratitude and appreciation, we finally decided that the simple

two words, THANK YOU, sum up and say it better than any

others we would have chosen. So we say, THANK YOU!

THANK YOU! THANKS A BUNCH!
