** OBITUARY **
Willie Roscoe Thompkins,Jr. was born on September 4,1950 to the parents of Alice and W illie Roscoe Thompkins, Sr. A quiet strength enveloped his being every step of his life.
W illie's introduction to his Christian life began at an early age when he was baptized at Moses Baptist Church. His life exemplified the teachings ofJesus Christ as his motto always seemed to echo that old spiritual "If I Can Help Somebody. "
He attended the Richmond County public schools and was a 1968 graduate of Lucy Laney High School. He attended the Augusta Area Technical School where he earned a diploma in Communications Technology in 1970. He was a dedicated father, husband and son and was always dependable, honest, loyal and a responsible person. He possessed technical expertise in many areas and willingly shared his knowledge and talents with others but he was never boastful, always humble. His concern for the development of young people was evidenced by his work with the Boy Scout Troop 111 of the Thankful Baptist Church where he served as the Assistant Scout Master and very importantly in the way he gently cared for his own children. He won the respect and confidence of his co-workers at his work place, the Horsecreek Pollution Control Facility and in 1983 he was selected " Employee of the Year."
He leaves to cherish his memory a loving and devoted wife, Linda; one daughter, Zabrina Monique Thompkins; two sons, Brian W illiam Thompkins and Christopher Scott Thompkins; his father, W illie Roscoe Thompkins, Sr.; his mother Alice Thompkins; three sisters, Alice Mae Strong, Juanita Williams and Estella Thompkins all of Augusta, Ga.; one brother, Robert Lee Thompkins, Augusta, Ga.; four sisters-in-law, Betty Jean Thompkins, Augusta, Ga., Georgene Walker, Marlton, N.J., Gladys Scott, Atlanta, Ga. and Tonya Scott, Tacoma, Wash.; eight brothers-in-law, Robert Strong, Melvin Williams, Kevin Scott, Michael Scott and Larry Scott all of Augusta, Ga., Bobby Leon Scott, Dothan, Ala., Charles Scott, Atlanta, Ga. and George Scott, Norwich, Ct.; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
