O bituary
Odessa Lee Thompkins was bom December 10, 1923. She was the oldest child bom to Lenora Collins and Frank Lee of Harlem, GA. After moving to Augusta, GA she attended the public schools of Richmond County.
She was married to a wonderful and devoted husband, Herman Thompkins who preceded her in death. To this union, God blessed them with nine children.
During Odessa's earlier years, she ws employed for twenty years by the Frank Thornton Restaurant in Augusta, GA.
Odessa was a soldier for Christ. At an early age she joined the Beulah Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Jennings. She served faithfully with the Ushers Ministry until her health failed. She enjoyed cooking for a lot o f people in the community, at church and especially at home for her family.
Odessa was a loving and giving person not only to her family, but also to her church members and friends.
Her life has definitely left a Legacy of Love and Giving.
She leaves to cherish her memories nine children: Lenora Thompkins, Faye (Jerome) Elmore, Sheryl Thompkins, Mary Alice Williams, Herman (Sheridda) Thompkins, Lobbock, TX, John (Anna) Thompkins, Leon (Victoria) Thompkins, Bobby Thompkins and Donald Thompkins; one sister, Louise Crane, Augusta, GA; two brothers, Jasper (Peggy) Lee, Atlanta, GA and LeRoy Evans; two goddaughters, Clemtine Bush, Atlanta, GA and Dora Green, Augusta, GA; fourteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; devoted friends, Shirley Samuels, Dr. and Mrs. Keith Sueling, Dr. and Mrs. Sam Davis, Milledge Kyler and other cousins and friends.
