Mr. John Edward Stephens was born on July 3, 1944 to the proud parents of Mrs. Carrie Lula Stephens and the late Mr. John Albert Stephens.
A t an early age he was converted and baptized at the Mace donia Baptist Church.
In 1969 he was united in Holy Matrimony to Miss Lucille Washington.
He departed this life on Saturday, June 21, 1980 in Bronx, New York.
He leaves to survive his passing a devoted wife, Mrs. Lucille, Stephens, Bronx, N. Y .; one daughter, Miss Donnetta Stephens; mother, Mrs. Carrie Lula Stephens; four sisters, Mrs. Bessie Mae Thomas, Mrs. Lula Mae Thomas, Mrs. Patricia S. Nelson all of Augusta, Ga.; and Mrs. Frances Cain, N ew York; two brothers, Mr. Robert Whitaker, N ew York; and Mr. William Kenneth Stephens, Augusta, Ga.; three uncles, Mr. James Whitaker, Balti more, Md.; Mr. Nelson Whita-ker, Hardeeville, S. C.; and Mr. Paul Stephens, Augusta, Ga.; six aunts, Mrs. Mary Hillman, Mrs. Estella Frazier, Mrs. Mae Frances Vinson, Mrs. Sarah Henderson all o f Augusta, Ga.; Mrs. Mary Whitaker, Hardeeville, S. C.; and Mrs. Lucille Whitaker, Baltimore, Md.; four sisters-in-law; three bro thers-in-law; and a host o f nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.
