Obituary
Mr. Roy L. Smalley, age 73, left this life to spend Eternal Life with God on December 6, 2000 at his residence, after being in declining health for 11 months.
Mr. Smalley was born February 8, 1927 in Lincolnton, GA to the late Mr. Lonnie Smalley and Mrs. Ethel Mae (Bendy) Smalley.
Mr. Smalley was dedicated to God and a faithful member o f Friendship Baptist Church. There he served on the Deacon Board and sang on the M en's Choir.
Mr. Smalley served in the U.S. Army for 2 years and was discharged honorably with the rank o f Sergeant. He later worked as a truck driver at Billings Freight System and retired in 1988 after spending 47 years with the company.
Cherishing his memory are his loving and devoted wife o f 43 years Dorothy R. Smalley o f the home; one son, Roy E. Smalley o f the home; four daughters, Deborah Renea Gaskins (Tommy) o f High Point, N C , Janice Teresa Little (Jeffery) of Salisbury, N C , Constance Katrina Hower (Barry) and Melissa Ann Davis both o f Lexington, N C ; also cherishing his memory are five grandchildren, Rokeea C. Smalley, Raecine K. Smalley, Ashley N. Hower, Jennifer N. Davis and Andrew L. Hower; six sisters, Myrtice Powell, Clara Reid, Mylo Anderson, Pearline Darthard and Juanita Smalley, all o f Lexington, N C and Mable Kindle o f High Point, Also a host o f other relatives and friends.
