Obituary
Edward (Chub/Duke) Smalley, Jr. was born on April 24, 1935, in Appling, Georgia to the late Edward Smalley, Sr. and the late Lillie Mae Jennings Smalley.
Edward was educated in the public schools of Richmond County. He served his country during the Korean Conflict. He retired from the Medical College of Georgia as Supervisor with the Environmental Depart ment.
Edward accepted Jesus as his personal Lord and Savior at an early age, and was baptized at Second Mt. Moriah Baptist Church, under the leadership of the late Reverend W.D. Mormant.
Edward was preceded in death by a son, Melvin Huff; a grand child, Melvin, Jr.; and a sister, Mary L. Williams.
Edward(Chub/Duke) Smalley, Jr. leaves a legacy of love and memo ries to his: devoted wife, Mary C. Smalley; two daughters, Arnita (Earnest) Quiller, North Augusta, SC and Phyllis (Shellie) Cain, Augusta, GA; two sons, Edward (Shirley) Smalley III and Anthony (Queen) Smalley, both of Augusta, GA; one daughter-in-law, Betty Huff, Hemstead, TX; three sisters, Vivian (Willie) Ridley, Country Club Hills, IL, Gaynell S. Bonner and Rose (Samuel) Willingham, all of Augusta, GA; six brothers, Lunie Frank Smalley, Wilson A. Smalley, David (Elaine) Smalley, Ronnie (Regina) Smalley, Reginald (Olivia) Smalley, all of Augusta, GA and Moses (Elaine) Smalley, Lithonia, GA; one devoted aunt, Mary L. Green Jackson and one uncle, Juriah Jennings, Jr., both of Augusta, GA; three special granddaugh ters, Erica Sanders, Chauntel and Taranda Smalley, all of Augusta, GA; one special great grandchild, Eric Farmer; fourteen other dearly loved grand children, Kelvin, Angela, Reginald, Anthony Jr., Alexis, Dominique, Feairro, Edward IV, Dewane, Maurice, Terrell, Destini, Denaisha and Rashad; two great-grandchildren, Arianna and Edward V; one sister-in-law, Bertha Crawford, Augusta, GA; two brothers-in-law, Willie (Maybell) Crawford, Jr., Augusta, GA and Phillip (Glenda) Crawford, Evans, GA; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
