R EFLECTIO N O F H E R LIFE
On Friday, December 27th, 2013; our Lord &r Savior Jesus Christ called Viola Estell Slappy home to be with Him. Viola was born on January 11th, 1929 in Augusta, Georgia to the late George Washington Mackie and Ellen Thomas Mackie. Viola attended schools in the Richmond County School District; where she later completed Supervisory Training at Augusta Technical School. Viola was employed at Fort Gordon Mental Health Building, finally settling and retiring from University Hospital after many years of outstanding service as the Housekeeping Supervisor.
Viola accepted the Lord Jesus Christ into her life at an early age; being baptized at Tabernacle Baptist Church, later moving her membership to the Historical Springfield Baptist Church. Viola served faithfully on the Usher Board; which she later became Chief. She was also a very active member of the Usher Union of Georgia.
Viola was preceded in death by her husband; Willie James Slappy Sr. (Slim), a son Willie James Slappy Jr. (Billy), a brother Leroy Mackie Sr. (Irma), two sisters Rev. Louise Martin (Robert) and Bessie Butler.
She leaves to cherish her memory two daughters; Vivian E. Fox of Los Angeles, California and Cheryl L. Slappy of Augusta, Georgia; one son Ronald L. Slappy of Augusta, Georgia; one sister Willie G. Mackie of Augusta, Georgia; two brotherdnTaw(s) Charles Slappy of Augusta, Georgia and Charlie Butler of Delware; Eight grandchildren Dedryck Latson of Augusta, Georgia, John Slappy of Hinesville, Georgia, Lionel Washington of Augusta, Georgia, johnny Glasker, Arnold Glasker and Tarus (Otis) Rowe III all of Los Angeles California, Billy Slappy of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina and Pamela (Bruce) McKenzie of Los Angeles, California; Thirteen great-grandchildren; five great great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Viola was well loved and respected by many and will be sadly missed by all.
"When He Says `Well Done"' In life you experience a lot, good and bad; some days will be joyful and happy, many are sad. Through it all my Jesus was always there. Telling me so softly, "Viola, you know I care." He gave me wonderful children to help me on the way. Through sickness and sorrow, they helped me every day. I had trials, tribulations and surely my share of pain. I learned how to praise my God, 1refused to complain. I say to my family, keep God in the midst of your heart. Don't let the cares of the world ever tare you apart. Vivian, Ronnie, Cheryl; mama is finally gone home. W ith a glorified beautiful body, I'll never be alone. Remember all the good times and my loving smile. The tears will surely come, but only last a little while. No more pain, sorrow or sickness: all things of the past. Viola Estell Slappy, has made it home: Mama is FREE AT LAST!

THANK YOU GRANDMA Thank you for the gift of love, now you're sharing it up above.
You had many things to say, all in a caring way. You always saw the good in everyone, no matter what they've done.
You were always the one we could all lean on. Even though it must have felt like a ton, you always were the strength of the family.
Now we must let you rest calmly. As we say goodbye, as tears roll down our face, W e know your place in heaven has a good view. Because you're telling God that you must keep your eyes on a few. I know you will always be in our hearts and minds. So Grandma, we must go, but we'll never forget you are one of a kind.
