As we gather here today to celebrate the life o f our devoted "Darling ", it is appropriate even in the midst of our bereavement to reminisce upon the years in which God allowed us to share with her.
Mrs. Mattie Hazel Singfield was bom to the late Mr. Clarence Allen, Sr. and the late Mrs. Patsy Allen on May 15, 1924 in Blyth, Georgia. Having been brought up in a Christian home, she was taught love and respect for all mankind. She confessed Christ early and was baptized at the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Hephzibah, Georgia. After her family moved to Augusta, Georgia, she joined the Beulah Grove Baptist Church.
Darling attended the public system in Richmond County. She was later united in holy matrimony to the late Samuel Singfield, Sr. During this marriage, the couple was blessed with eight children.
Darling retired from the Veterans Administration (VA) Hospital's Canteen Services where she labored for thirty years. She was liked and highly admired by all VA employees who constantly sought her advice and counsel throughout the years.
Darling was an extremely devoted mother. Her personal sacrifices for her family were limitless. Such a person cannot be soon forgotten. Wonderful and lasting memories shall linger in the minds and in the hearts of all whose lives were touched by her. Darling is loved and she will be truly missed.
She was preceded in death by her son, Mr. Byron Singfield. Left to treasure her life and love: two daughters, Mrs. Betty (David) Butler, Augusta, GA and Ms. Sondra Singfield, College Park, GA; five sons, Mr. Samuel (Fannie) Singfield, Jr., Augusta, GA, Mr. Glenn (Tandra) Singfield, Sr., Albany, GA, Mr. Gregory Singfield, Augusta, GA, Mr. Dwayne (Angenette) Singfield, Augusta, GA and Mr. Tony (Veronica) Singfield, Gaitersburg, MD; one surviving brother, Mr. John Allen, Brooklyn, NY; a devoted niece, Ms. Fredricka Singfield, Brooklyn, NY; a devoted nephew, Mr. Josh Aaron, Jr., Augusta, GA; two devoted surrogate daughters, Mrs. Patricia (Joe) Jones, and Mrs. Virginia (Robert) Clark; sixteen grandchildren; fifteen great grand children; one great, great grandchild; a special friend, Mr. Bennie Fryer, and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
