M ay th e life Yve livedspeakfo r m e.....So, th is is m ystory
1 lived a simple life - skoes on myfeet,fo od fo r my children to eat, somewkere to lay my head and knowing 1 kad a robe in Glory to wear...that made me kappy. My daddy, Frank Simon, Sr., my mama-Ruby Robinson Simon and my grandmamma. Elizabeth "Bam" Griffin did tke best tkey could to raise tke six o f us.
In 1975, daddy took a ride on `T ke Ckariot", Bam got on in 1976 and mamajoined them, in 1977. So, that left tke six o f us; my oldest brother Daniel (Dan) kis wife Essie Mae, me and my wife Lessie Mae, my sister Eunice and her lare husband Boyce Carl, my sister Mildred ( we call her Bowie), my baby brother Willie Marion and kis wife Carolyn and my baby sister Mary (we call her Mag). Every Christmas and Thanksgiving, for many years, we would gather at my sister Eunice's kouse/or dinner and/ellowship-(my sisters/brotkers, our children, nieces, nephews, cousins, fam ily andfriends). But, Mag lives in California and couldn'tjo in us as often, so ....let me show you how `The Lord W orks". Mag came homefo r a visit this past September and tke six o f us were together again-we talked, laughed, ate, told old stories and ju st kad a good oldjel lowskip.
You can't beat a goodjEllowskip and that's why, at an early age, 1joined Second Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. 1 participated in Sunday school, BTU and many other church activities. But, the most o f my time was spent singing ivith the Second Shilohjubiliars and serving on the Deacon Board, since age 27, and a number o f those years as Chairman o f the Board. Second Shiloh is where 1fo u n d Lessie Mae Martin and on April 19,1959, we became husband and wife. 1 told you-you can't beat a goodJellowship... Now, 1 have more nicknames than the law should allow-June, sneakypeak, witchdoctor, wish, pinecone and brother rap-but no one can call my name like Lessie Mae,fo r "55" years, eight months and ten days, she called me by myf A l name-Frank Simon! We were blessed with,fo u r wonderful girls. Our oldest girl Rosalind(Pappy) andjulius Tumipseed live in Nashville, Tenn., the two middle girlsJudith A nn and Tyrone Butler,
and Frankie Simon are here in Augusta. Our baby girl Marta and Quincyjones tive in Atlanta, GA
1 would sometimes tell people-"tkey're pretty good girls-1 never had to get them out o f jail-ftW ey went, they didn t call me and ] would tell them," church business is church business". Ifyou went to tke meeting, participated in the discussion, put it to a vote, win or lose-it's over wken you walk out the door-so, "hang up that phone"! We were also blessed with a Godson, Mickaet Dbcon and blessed to stilt kave my aunt Lula Crowder. Tkis past Thanksgiving wasju s t like old times-all my girls were kome, alt seven grandchildren,fo u r o f the eight great grandchildren, cousins andfam ilyfriends joined togetherfo r a weekend o f "Fellowship "and "Celebration", at cousins Nita and Emanuel's kouse. Wejoined hand sfor prayer and then we ate and ate and ate. The weekend en d ed , atJudy and Tyrone's house, with a big pot o f spagketti! We watched football, -the children played games, danced and made mud pies. Wkat a "Fellowship"!!! Ok, 1 can'tforget the greatfellowships with the mighty " Wildcats" Lucy C. laney class
J'1959 _ 59ers 1 thank youfo r always checking on me and keeping me up witk the
class kappenings. Yes, 1 lived a simple life. So, on Saturday m om ingjanuary io, 2015, around 5:30 a.m., one o f the nurses came in to check on me and" 1 tkrew my hands up and waived tkem Jrom side to side , she couldn t understand wkat was going on- But, 1was calling on the Father , Father 1 stretch my hands to thee- cause "my soul is tired and my body is weak-can 1 lean on you?" Around 6:23 a.m., he heard my cry and 1 died as simple as 1 lived "o f natural causes" . But, because 1 livedfo r Ckrist..J died in Christ..... 1got on `Tke Ckariot" and Lessie Mae walked in the room and said Frank Simon!!!!!!
