SPRINGFIELD BAPTIST CHURCH 114 Twelfth Street Augusta, Georgia

KARL SHOMO, son o f Patricia Ann Shomo and Milton Butts, was born July 22, 1963 in Manhattan, New York.
Fifteen months ago he and his wife, Sandra left New York City and to came to live in Sandra's second home, Augusta, Georgia. In that time, they were blessed to find Springfield Baptist Church, where Karl came to love and accept Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior. Karl was also a student o f Augusta Technical College.
Karl was someone that was so easy to embrace. When you met him, you loved him at first sight and the love only grew. He was always known to say "If no one told you they loved you today . . . I do."
Karl leaves behind many who loved him. Amongst them are: his loving and devoted wife, Sandra Shomo; three younger brothers, Kenneth Shomo o f North Carolina, Ronald and Adolphus Butts o f Bronx, New York; one sister, Zina Butts o f New York, N ew York; and a host o f aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews whom he loved very much.
We are sadden by this great loss, because our Karl, will truly be missed.
How does one say goodbye to someone they've known and loved for over twenty something years, lost contact with and found again. Then fell in love and got married. I must say my last nine years with Karl has been the best o f my life. We were only married seven years out o f nine, however, in that small bit o f time, we loved hard, rough and had our ups and downs. . . . but we stayed committed. Most importantly, we remained a team. Karl was my best friend and lover. So today, I refused to be sad, because Karl wouldn't have wanted that. He would want me to remain strong and trust in God to see me through this time o f grief. I would like to take time to thank everyone for your love and support, with special thanks to Springfield for embracing and accepting my husband and I as one o f their own.

Beside still waters I am led, In quietness my soul is fed. My anxious worries drop away, You lift them from me as I pray. Your peace flows through my heart and mind, That peace which nowhere else I find. I leave, enfolded in your grace, Lord, let this he my favorite place,
Beside still waters.
