"OBITUARY**
"Servant of God, well done" were the welcomed words that were heard by William Walter Self on Sunday, February 2, 1992, when he entered the Masters joy at the V.A. Medical Center in Atlanta, Georgia. A native of McCormick County, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Steve and Henriette Williams Self.
The family lived in Augusta, Georgia and later relocated in New York where he attended elementary and high school. In the late 40s the family returned to Augusta where he graduated from Paine College in 1950. He furthered his studies at various universities.
On their return home, the family reunited with Thankful Baptist Church, their home church, and Self, as he was affectionately called, became very active in the Sunday School. He was in the organization of the Gospel Choir and finally being elected to the Board of Trustees and served as church treasurer.
He was united in marriage to the late Mrs. Hazel Snell Self. This union was blessed with one daughter.
He was an educator and serviced the children of Richmond County at Ursula Collins Elementary School, A.R.Johnson Junior High School, and T.W. Josey High School. He also worked at Boggs Academy. He was loved by his students, respected by his co-workers, and admired as a friend to those with whom he came in contact.
He has been a resident of Atlanta, Georgia for the past 16 years. At home, at church, at work, he was always loyal and devoted to whatever task he was assigned.
Cherishing a lifetime of memories are, a devoted daughter, Ms. Margaret Self, Atlanta, Ga.; cousins, Mr. Willie Jennings, College Park, Ga., Mrs. Louvenia Grigge, Mrs. Nellie Jennings, Columbia, S.C., Mr. Marion Williams, Augusta, Ga., Mr. Frank Williams, Los Angeles, Calif.; mother-in-law, Mrs. Dulla Pittman, Poconos, Pa.; and a host of friends.

When All Is Done
When all is done, and my last word is said, And ye who loved me, mourn, he is dead, Let no one weep for fear that I should know
A sorrow to that we should sorrow so. When all is done and in the oozing clay, Ye lay this cast-off hull of mine away, Pray not for me, for after long despair, The quiet of the grave will be a prayer. When all is done, say not my day is o 'er, And that thro' night I seek a dimmer shore, Say rather that my mom has just begun, I greet the dawn, and not a setting sun,
When all is done.
