Floyd Timothy Searles was the youngest of nine
children born to the late James Searles and Essie R. Gilchrist Searles. He was born in Augusta Richmond County, GA. He joined Bethel A.M.E. Church at an early age under the leadership of Rev. G. B. Hannah.
Floyd attended the Richmond County School system and graduated from Lucy C. Laney High in 1951. He was drafted in the United States Army in which he served two years. In 1953 he received an honorable discharge and he came home and enrolled in the Veteran Technical School. He was a member of the Masonic District #2, the New Era Lodge #107. He worked for General Electrical, the Coca Cola Bottling Co., and he retired from Grantville Mills after 30 years of Service in 1993.
Floyd loved to read, watching Baseball and Football on TV and he had a unique sense of humor.
He leave to cherish his memories: One devoted brother Matthew(Doris) Searles, devoted & loving nephew - Augustus C. Thurmond(Jeanette); a faithful cousin, Georgia Searles Beard; a special niece, Jeanette Grubbs (all in Augusta, GA) a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and other relatives, good neighbors, Mrs. Rosa Harris, Mrs. Ann Lewis, Eddie Hall, Jr., Zora Robinson, and many sorrowful friends.
Floyd will be truly missed by all.
