Obituary
1894-1984
Mrs. Hattie Jackson Scurry, a native of Ridge Spring, South Carolina, and the daughter of the late Jack and Jane Dozier Jackson, was born November 11, 1894, in Saluda County. Her Christian experience began at Rock Hill Baptist Church, Saluda, S. C., but she worked faithfully and attended other churches as long as her health permitted her. Mrs. Scurry was a friend to many and will be remembered as one who always had a pleasant smile as well as encouraging words.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Garfield Scurry and to this union twelve children were born, and six preceded her in death.
She leaves to cherish her memory: Four daughters:
Mrs. Ruth Reedy, Ridge Spring, S. C. Mrs. Sequestea S. Chestnut, Walterboro, S. C. Mrs. Sally S. Turner, New York City, N. Y. Mrs. Jerrie Lee Simpkins, Monetta, S. C. One Son: CSM (retired) James Albert (Jim) Scurry, Fayetteville, N. C. Also eighteen grandchildren, fifty-two great-grands, five great-great-grandchildren, two sons-in-law, one daughter-inlaw, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other sorrowful relatives and friends.
