Obituary
Ira Jean Thompkins Scott departed this life to go to be with her Savior November 21, 2004 at Emory University Hospital, Atlanta, Georgia.
She was a native Augustan where she attended school and was a 1962 graduate of Lucy Laney High School.
Her parents, Forrest and Mary Thompkins preceded her In death as did her beloved grandmother Sarah Bennion.
"Jean" as she was lovingly called was friendly, warm and kind. She opened her heart and home to many people.
She leaves to rejoice her home going cousins, Elease Davis, Sophia Green, Emma Samuels, Rosa B. Williams, Roberta Washington, Mattie Lou Stokes, Sadie Mae Lamar, Myrtle Jackson, Grace Jackson, Purnell Jackson, James Jackson, Billy Jackson, Charles Jackson and Eddie Jackson; devoted god children, Mary (Sandie) Mitchell, Chazmine Mitchell, both of Cedartown, Georgia, Carlotta Parham, Diedre Kitchens, Antonette Kitchens, Derrick Downs, of Augusta, Georgia, Robbie Best, of Jonesboro, Georgia and Jamila Becton, of New Jersey; life long loving friends and cousin, Andrine Downs, Minister Mozelle Bennett and Rev. Betty Anderson.
