Life is a journey, not a home, a road, not a city of habitation; and the enjoyment and blessing are but little Inns on the road side of life, where we may with new strength press on to the end to rest that remainethfor the people ofGod.
Mrs. Ollie M. Scott entered into eternal rest on Monday, April 17, 1995 following an extended illness. She was bom November 15, 1908 to the late John and Lucy Sims Miller.
She was educated in the public schools of Richmond county.
At the age of 12, she was converted and baptized at Thankful Baptist Church under the pastorage of the late Rev. A. G. Davis. She served Thankful faithfully, as a Sunday School Teacher, and in whatever capacity she was needed for 73 years, until her health failed. She lived to see three generations of her family converted and baptized at Thankful this made her happy.
She was united in matrimony to Melvin Scott. This union was blessed with two daughters, Melvenia and Gertrude.
Her employment included 15 years with the Miller Theater and The Augusta Civic School of Ballet. During her many years of service with the Ballet Company, she touched the lives of many young students who have gone on to great success.
She leaves to cherish fond memories: two daughters, Melvenia S. Owens, Augusta, GA and Gertrude S. Sheegog Olympia, Wash.; a devoted and loving grandson, Ozzie Owens, Jr.; grandchildren, Anita Cummings, Cincinnati, OH, Cynthia F. Owens, Sheila McCaray, Cheryl Williams, Cecelia Owens, Tonia R. Johnson and Lachele Owens, all of Augusta, GA, Reginald and Porsha Sheegog of Tacoma, Wash, and Lenora V. Sheegog of Seattle, Wash.; nineteen great-grandchildren; two sons-in-law, Ozzie Owens, Augusta, GA and Henry Sheegog, Olympia, Wash.; three God-daughters, Rebecca Hargrove, Betty Abraham and Gussie B. Conner; four dear friends, Marjorie Odom, Julia Brown, Blanche Whigham and Minnie Maddox; other relatives and sorrowing friends.
A TRIBUTE AND FAREWELL
Today we say good by to her. She lived eighty-six years. We thank God that He loaned her to us, for she was one of His greatest riches. Some of those years were lived in sadness, sickness, poverty and joy, but the joy she had was not given to her by the world. I know now that it must have been hard because you worked at a theater that you could not even see a movie in unless you sat in the balcony. But through it all, you learn to trust in Jesus, and though you leave not many worldly riches, you leave the greatest legacy of all -- the legacy of knowing there is a God. You also know that nothing else matters because when life is over, nothing is important but that one knows the Lord. Our Lord is an anchor that holds one in life and in death.
If Ollie could speak to us today, I believe she would say, "Many here knew me. I was quiet, but I tried to be faithful. I worked in my church, and my legacy is that I want to encourage my daughters, grandchildren and friends to be faithful to the Lord, for you will not regret it. If you find yourself out of the church, get in and work." On the Saturday before her death, she said to her daughter, "I got religion, and if you dont have it you better get it."
I pray that God will give you strength, and I know that God is willing to give good things to those who ask in faith. To all of us she says "Good by, and I believe we will meet again."
Love Your granddaughter Anita L. Cummings and Family

When I die I want myfriends to think ofthe good Ive done to men.
IfIve been misunderstood, pleaseforget for when I die . . . A new life begins. It will do no good to chatter the bad
and speak derogatory words ofthefaults I had. For ifyou have notfaults as you stand at my grave,
Its simply because you had not nothing to save. Then shed no tears when I am gone, just rejoice that I was born. Learn that every life though small reminds us, Jesus diedfor all.
We, the family of the late OLLIE M. SCOTT, would like to thank all for the many acts of kkdness shown to us during the sickness and death of our beloved relative.
May God richly bless each of you, is our sincere prayer.
