M. - Rev. Torn/me Scott

A servant of God well done. For over five decades, THE REV. TOMMIE SCOTT has served his Master in a mighty way - spreading and preaching the gospel through the empowerment of his faith in Jesus Christ. During this time, he ministered many through the pastorship of several churches. In the matchless name of God, he not only brought in many souls to the church but gave of himself unselfishly to the growth and progress of all of his churches. Under his leadership thousands were converted and baptized, hundreds ordained, including ministers and deacons, and many marriages were performed. As a chosen role model for Christ he was a spiritual leader and counselor for the young and old and always willing to help anyone.

During his many years of service he made many contributions and improvements in all of his churches. Two

churches were rebuilt and renovations were made to other churches under his leadership through fund raising

programs.

.

Reverend Tommie Scott has closed the final chapter of life. The book is now completed. He confessed Christ

as his Lord and Master at the age of fourteen, and started his Christian journey. His desire was to climb up

through the ranks of religious works.

:

In 1937 he was ordained as Deacon. In this office he served for four years, always striving to do his duty, and to give to the church a true report. Being ever mindful that the Heavenly Father has an invisible pen recording all of his deeds and actions. On the first Saturday in July in a conference meeting he preached his trial sermon and was licensed to the pulpit. Eleven months later he was ordained to go forth and proclaim the gospel.

During his long years of ministry, he was called to eight churches to serve as pastor. At the close of life, he was serving four churches: Hosannah Baptist Church, Modoc, S.C.; Spring Grove Baptist Church and Mealing Grove Baptist Churches, Edgefield County, S.C.; and Mims Grove Baptist Church, Aiken County, S.C.

On Sunday, January 13,1991, Rev. Scott delivered his final sermon. It was taken from the Book of Daniel, the third chapter and the sixteenth verse. His theme was stand up for the right and stand out against the wrong. He said, "It is better to serve God than man and that my God whom I serve is able to deliver mefrom thefirefurnace-Stand up for Jesus."

On January 16,1991, he delivered his final eulogy. In his message it was once again revealed that he was saying "farewell" to us. At the close of his message, he urged the Christians to hold on. To pen point what he was saying, he told the story of an eagle who grew up in the yard with the chickens. The eagle realized that the chickens were not his crowd, but he was fenced in with them. Every day the eagle would get alone and pick the dead feathers out of his body getting ready for a flight. One day he heard the voice of his crowd flying in the midair. He lifted his wings, flew over the fence and joined his crowd.

Rev. Scott then compared himself with the eagle bird and said, "There have been so many changes in the operation of

Gods church, until I am almost at a loss. More and more Ifeel that this is not my crowd. Every day I am shaking offmy weight,

getting ready for my flight. "

.

On Sunday morning, January 20,1991 at 6:15 a.m. he caught his captains eye, and sailed out of this world and joined his crowd.

He has fought a good fight. He is satisfied and he is home with Christ, where troubles shall be no more.
