** OBITUARY **

y Mr. Hubert Randolph Scott, the oldest of three children was born

ton September 24, 1919 in Comer, Georgia to the late Mr. and Mrs.

Clifford Scott. He departed this life Sunday, June 16, 1985.

Mr. Scott received his early education from the Julia Jackson Teacher Training and Industrial Institute in Clark County and his secondary education from the Union Baptist Institute in Athens,
Georgia. He received the B.S. Degree from Morehouse College and the M.S. Degree from Atlanta University.

Mr. Scott joined the Pilgrim Health and Life Insurance Company staff in 1947. He was appointed Actuary of the Company and served in this capacity for many years. In 1962 he was named to the Companys Board of Directors. Eventually he rose to the position of Vice President, Secretary-Treasurer of the company. For many years, he worked in the National Insurance Association, serving as statistician, actuary and chairman of the Technicians section.

Mr. Scott served his community in many capacities. He served on the Board of Directors of the Shiloh Orphanage, the Ninth Street YMCA, Gwinnett Street Investment Co., and the United Fund of Augusta and North Augusta, S.C., and the V.F.W. His appointment to the Civil Service Commission by the Augusta City Council in December 1968 made him the first Black to hold that position.

A very responsible member of Tabernacle Baptist Church, Mr. Scott was a member of the Trustee Board and served as Chairman of the Finance Committee. A founder and charter member of the Augusta Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, he served twice as Polemarch of this greek letter organization.

Randolph Scott, II, Columbia, S.C., Mr. Wayne DuMetz Scott, Augusta, Ga.; sister, Mrs. Hazelyn Scott Lewis, San Antonio, Tx.; stepmother, Mrs. Geneva Scott, Comer, Ga.; daughter-in-law, Mrs. Linda Thomas Scott, Columbia, S.C.; sisters-in-law, Mrs. Kathleen Scott, Tuskegee, Al., Mrs. Constance DuMetz, Detroit, Mi.; brothers-in-law, Dr. E. T. DuMetz, Detroit, Mi., Dr. Earl Lewis, San Antonio, Tx.; nieces,Mrs. Keron Forte, Montgomery, Ala., Miss Alicia Lewis, San Antonio, Tx.; nephews, Atty. Peter Lewis, Dallas, Tx., Atty Ronald Lewis, Houston,Tx.; uncle, Mr. Lenoir Tiller, Comer, Georgia; aunt, Mrs. Mirium Tiller, Comer, Ga.; two grandsons and a host of relatives and friends.
