Ms. Willette Marie Sanders, was born to the late Mr. Rufus H. Sanders, Sr. and Mrs Wilhelmina Avery Sanders Augusta, Georgia. She entered into rest Saturday, May 23, 2009 at Heartland Hospice.
At an early age Willette was baptized at 2nd Mt. Carmel Baptist Church in Appling, GA. She lived a full Christian life and placed her eternal life in God's hand.
Willette attended the pubhc schools of Richmond County and graduated from Lucy C. Laney Comprehensive High School in 1962. She graduated from Fisk University, Nashville, TN with a B.S. degree in Sociology, and also received a Master's Degree in Education from National-Louis University, Chicago, IL,,
She was a teacher with the Chicago Public Schools for more than twenty years where she was loved and respected by her students and peers until failing health forced her to retire and return to Augusta.
Willette was an adventurous and creative person. She approached every hobby with passion and a commitment to excellence. Whether it was cooking gourmet dishes, sewing special creations, or belly dancing, Willette did everything with a special flair.
Willette leaves to cherish her memory: one daughter, Charisse Michelle Williams, Atlanta, GA; brothers, Rufus H. Sanders, Jr. and Kenneth (Carmen) Sanders, I, both of Augusta, GA; aunts, Mary E. Sanders, Harlem, GA and Sarah A. Washington, Augusta, GA; uncle, Ambrose Avery, Port Royal, SC; nieces, Mia Sanders, Miami, FL, Kanika (Zeda) Stanford, Stockbridge, GA, Kimber Bell, Waynesboro, GA; nephews, Kenneth (Yolanda) Sanders II, Jacksonville, FL, Kester Sanders, and Kenmond Sanders, both of Augusta, GA; three great-neices; two great-nephews; sister-in-law Keturah Sanders; close friends, Fidel Campos, Chicago, IL and Leslie Chavous, Columbia, SC; and other relatives and friends.
