JACQULYN B. RYAN-WHITE was the first o f three beautiful daughters born to Jack and Melba (Butts) Ryan on January 14, 1942, in Fitzgerald, Georgia. Jacqulyn departed this life after a courageous battle with cancer on May 20, 2014, in Augusta, Georgia.
At a young age, Jacqulyn attended Monitor Elementary and graduated from Monitor High School with high honors. Throughout her youth, Jacqulyn had an aptitude for music. She took piano lessons and played clarinet for her high school band.
After graduating from Savannah State College (University) in 1964 with a Bachelor o f Arts Degree in Business Education, Jacqulyn began her extensive career in education at Fort Valley State College (University) where she worked as a secretary in the agricultural department. She then relocated and taught in Homerville, GA. In 1968, Jacqulyn moved to Augusta and started teaching business education at Lucy Laney High School where she remained for two years. She was later transferred to Richmond Academy where she was one o f the first African-American teachers. While there, she received her master's degree from South Carolina State College (University). Jacqulyn retired in 2002 from teaching after having completed 38 years in education.
Jacqulyn accepted Christ as her Savior at an early age and began her spiritual journey being nurtured by loving parents and extended family. She joined Salem First Missionary Baptist Church, where she played piano for the youth choir, Sunday school, and Baptist Training Union. Jacqulyn also played piano for Holsey Chapel Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. After moving to Augusta, she united with the Jhbernacle Baptist Church where she was active in the Credit Union and Welcome ministries until she was unable to serve. During her illness, Jacqulyn also participated in Life Healing Ministries.
Jacqulyn accomplished many o f her academic and professional goals prior to meeting and marrying her husband o f 18 years, Mr. Gerald C. White in September o f 1995. Jacqulyn and Gerald shared special common interests, especially music and traveling. Jacqulyn and Gerald spent time traveling within the United States and abroad including the Bahamas, Cancun, Texas, Las Vegas, and Hilton Head.

A wonderful wife, sister, aunt, educator, and friend-- Jacqulyn leaves to continue her legacy her husband o f 18 years, Gerald White and his son, Andrew; one devoted sister, Patricia Kennebrew, Kennesaw, GA; six aunts: Nadine Nealy, Elestine (Walter) Holloway, Joan Blondell Williams, Eloise Butts, Rosalee Butts, and Emma Nell Butts; a brother-in-law: James H. Keels; Nieces: Thsha (Thomas) Hurley, Sigrid (Dhanfu) Elston, Kirsten Keels, Kristal Keels, and Kourteney Keels; and a loving host o f grand-nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.
Jacqulyn's life verses were Proverbs 31:25 "Strength and honour are her clothing; and she shall rejoice in the time to come."; and, Ephesians 6:2-3 "Honor your father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise; that it may be well with you, and you may live long on the earth."
Although things are not perfect Because of trial or pain Continue in thanksgiving Do not begin to blame Even when the times are hard Fierce winds are bound to blow God is forever able Hold on to what you know Imagine life without His love Joy would cease to be Keep thanking Him for all the things Love imparts to thee Move out of "Camp Complaining" No weapon that is known O n earth can yield the power Praise can do alone Quit looking at the future Redeem the time at hand Start every day with worship To "thank" is a command Until we see Him coming Victorious in the sky W e 'll run the race with gratitude Xalting God most high Yes, there'll be good times and yes, some will be bad, but... Zion waits in glory...where none are ever sad!
