C om pen sation
I'd like to think when life is done that I hadfilled a needed post; That here and there I 'd paid myfare with more than idle talk and boast.
That I had taken gifts divine, the breath o f life and manhoodfine, And tried to use them now and then in servicefo r my fellowman.
I 'd hate to think when life is through that I had lived my round o fyears A useless kind that leaves behind no record in this vale o f tears; That I had wasted all my days by treading only selfish ways,
And that this world would be the same if it had never known my name.
I 'd like to think that here and there, when I am gone, there shall remain A happier spot, that might have not existed, had I toiledfo r gain;
That someone's cheery voice and smile shallprove that I had been worthwhile; That I had p a id with somethingfine my "debt to God"fo r life divine.

(Excerpt) By William Cullen Bryant
So live that when thy sum m ons com es to jo in That innumerable caravan, which moves
To that m ysterious realm, w here each shall take H is cham ber in the silent halls o f death,
Thou go not, like the quarry slave at night, Scourged to his dungeon, but, sustained and soothed
By an unfaltering trust, approach thy grave Like one who wraps the drapery o f his couch A bout him, and lies down to pleasant dreams.
The Russell family wishes to express our sincere thanks for the many acts of kindness which you have bestowed upon us during our bereavement. Until you are thanked individually, please be assured that we shall never forget the love and concern you have shown. May God bless each and everyone of you.
