Obituary
Thomas Rouse was born in Lincoln County, Georgia on April 14, 1925 to the union of Jesse and Nettie Rouse who both preceded him in death. He was the fifth of nine children born to this union.
Thomas was baptized at the New Tabernacle Baptist Church in Lincolnton, Georgia at an early age. He lived in Georgia until 1946 when he moved to Detroit, Michigan. In Michigan, Thomas was converted to the Pentecostal Church under the leadership of the late Bishop C.L. Morton, Sr. He later served as a Deacon and Sunday school teacher under the late Rev. Jesse Norton.
On July 12, 1947 Thomas married Evelyn Gywn of Independence, Virginia. To this union was born Thomas O Neal, Loretta and Linda. In 1960, Thomas and Evelyn were entrusted Telia, Michael and the youngest Rebecca, who preceded him in death.
He was a dedicated worker giving Ford Motor Company 41 years of service before his retirement in 1993. In the eyes of the community, he was loved as a second father to many as well as a mechanic.
Thomas Rouse leaves to cherish: his wife of 54 years Evelyn, five children; Thomas O Neal Rouse, Loretta Dyson, Linda Rouse, Telia Cook, Michael (Alfreda) Cook all of Detroit, Michigan, two brothers Spurgeon (Gertrude) Rouse of Detroit, Michigan and James (Sandra) Rouse of Augusta, Georgia, fourteen grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A close friend Kenneth Truso and a bird he fondly called "Bird."
