Mrs. Mary Ann Jones Riley was bom December 22, 1912 in Barnwell County, South Carolina. She answered her call to the Almighty God on Friday, January 23, 2009 at her home.
Mary was the daughter of the late Hampton Jones and Ada Gordon Jones. She was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
She was baptized in August of 1925 at Union Branch Baptist Church in Williston, SC. In 1932, she was united in wedlock to Mr. William Riley, Sr., and to this union nine children were bom. Mr. Riley along with three sons, Franklin D. Riley, William Riley, Jr. and Robert Riley preceded her in death.
Upon moving to the Augusta area, Mary joined Peoples Baptist Church where she served faithfully on the Ushers Board, and in May of 1995 she united with Elim Baptist Church until her health began to fail.
Mary Riley never met a stranger and was a friend to all who knew her and will be dearly missed.
She leaves to cherish her memory, four sons, Daniel Riley, Hampton (Leola) Riley, John (Sandra) Riley, and Willie (Elenora) Riley all of Augusta, Georgia, two daughters, Jossie Ann Riley and Frankie Mae Riley both of Augusta. She also leaves to cherish her memories sixteen grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews and other relatives and sorrowing friends.
