The Obituary

HATTIE THURMOND RICE, daughter of the late Neber and Suzie Thurmond was born on August 28th, 1903, in Edgefield, South Carolina.

,; She went home to be with the Lord on November 3, 1991 at '6:35 p.m.

;;' Hattie accepted Christ into her life at age eleven at Chiney Grove Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend I. W. Petersoh.^

;. After receiving her education in Edgefield, she moved io

~ She moved to Philadelphia, Pa., in 1923. She remained here

jand united with the Morris Chapel Baptist Church and was a

Hattie was a busy worker in the Chapel, she was a Sunday

School Teacher for many years, an Honorary member of the

Hospitality Club, a long time member of the Senior Ushers, Ladies

Auxiliary, Deaconess Board, Treasurer of the Golden Rod Mis-

sionary, President of the Star of East Club and a Prayer Warrior,

:who rarey missed her prayer service, knowing fully the power of

.-prayer.

,-. Under Reverend Parrishs leadership she met Willie Rice and the two were joined in Holy Matrimony in 1931. /Vo children were ;born to this union.

. She leaves to mourn: one sister; Evelyn Burgess, one brother; Wesley Thurmond, one niece; Teresa Burgess of Philadelphia, one nephew; Wesley Thurmond, Jr., of Philadelphia, sixteen grand children and great-nieces and nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.
